The SKYWARN program exists to provide the National Weather Service (NWS) with critical on site data to assist in the
process of identifying hazardous conditions, assessing damage and damage potential and support the severe
weather warning process.
Volunteer weather spotters receive specialized training in what weather conditions to look for and how to report them. Butler County AuxComm provides "nets" both on local radio repeaters as well as on MeshCore for spotters to check into, monitor conditions around the area and report in when weather conditions meet the criteria for reporting.
